In Osceola County, several families have just days to find a new place to live.

The Knights Inn on U-S 192 in Kissimmee told its residents they were closing, and they all needed to get out by September 15. Some people haven’t been able to find a new place to live and many have decided to stay.

Packing their bags, the Dubois family finally found a new place to live. After the three of them lived in a small room for years at the Knights Inn, they’re moving.

“They said they were shutting the hotel down in a few weeks…Obviously we were shocked,” Paul Dubois told us.

The Dubois family is one of the lucky few that has found a new place to live. Others are still searching for their new temporary home and are staying here as long as they can.

One man we met with showed us his room which was recently raided. He told us he just noticed his door was kicked in after he got back from a visit to the hospital. That’s when he realized all of his medication and even some of his clothes were stolen.

While we were there we noticed a lot of the doors have already been kicked in, and the rooms have been completely ransacked. Even the air conditioning has been pulled out of the wall.

We reached out to the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office and they told us they are monitoring the area.

Code Enforcement visited the area Thursday, and we were told by county officials that both them and building inspection will be out at the motel to determine whether the building should be condemned.

Gary Sondergeld said his family invested all their money in designing mobile applications, and don’t have the money to start over.

“We just take it day by day…There is no hope, ” Sondergeld said.

A notice was posted on everyone’s door letting them know that the utilities will officially be turned off on September 15. That is when they will officially be without a home.
