Deputies in Volusia County are investigating the drowning of a 20-month-old boy in Deltona that happened on Monday night.

Officials say the Volusia County Sheriff's Office received a frantic 911 call at 7:45 p.m. about a lifeless child found in a swimming pool at a residence on Ferendina Drive.

Adults at the scene were attempting CPR while awaiting the arrival of deputies and paramedic crews, but told the dispatcher the child wasn't responding.

Emergency units arrived at the house about two minutes after the call was placed.

The child was transported by ambulance to Florida Hospital Fish Memorial in Orange City where he was pronounced dead at 8:32 p.m.
