We've gone on big tours this summer and tours well after dark. But never have we been part of a tour of one.

This is one history tour on foot with a twist -- RUN!

Lace up your running shoes and keep an open mind.

In Pensacola, Emerald Coast Tours operator Nic Shuck has a way for folks to get a history lesson and exercise, all in the same tour.

"Our newest tour is a historical running tour," Shuck said.

Shuck, a historian and tour guide, brought his love of running and the past together.  His morning history lessons require folks to jog a bit.

"It's for those who like to stay fit while on vacation and learn a little bit about history as well," Shuck said.

The tour covers approximately three miles around historic landmarks like the Julee Cottage, which was built in 1805.

“(It was) the first house in Pensacola owned free woman of color."

Shuck’s tour also takes visitors to the old Christ Church, which is the oldest church in the state still on its original foundation.

Visitors also see some new landmarks, such as the Plaza del Luna. “This park wasn't built until after hurricane Ivan in 2004. Dedicated to the founder of Pensacola."

Downtown Pensacola is the setting.

And if you can't run three miles?  Nic takes it slow.

"There are stops along the way,” Shuck said. “You don't have to be in the best of shape."
