A death investigation is underway after a Marion County inmate was found dead, more than an hour after he was booked.
Mark Beekman, 48, was arrested on battery charges Saturday at the Motor Inns Motel and RV Park, 3601 W. Silver Springs Blvd.
He was booked at 3:55 p.m. and found dead at 5:13 p.m. in the jail's medical pod.
An autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death.
