Osceola County has opened up a new animal adoption center to find homes for its growing number of cats and dogs; something the county desperately needed.

They have more animals turned over than adopted, so the goal is to save the lives of as many animals as possible.

Over the past couple of years the Osceola County Animal Shelter has seen plenty of animals turned over to them.

Officials do think the economy has had some effect, but now they hope more people will be willing to pick up their pets.

That’s why they decided to bring the animals to you.

This new adoption center is right near the heart of Kissimmee, and they hope that it will bring people from the Poinciana and Kissimmee area.

“We want this to be a good location for adoptions and as long as it is then we will continue to come over here and do these adoptions on Wednesdays and Saturdays,” said Osceola County's Animal Services Director Kim Staton.

During the event they found 14 animals their forever homes and hope to have the same amount of success in the future.

The Kissimmee Adoption Center is located at 3096 Michigan Avenue in Kissimmee, and is open on Wednesdays from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Saturdays 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
