A young girl was attacked by a venomous snake in Osceola County recently, and has other residents concerned.

Judging by the picture of the water moccasin that bit the girl last weekend in the Buena Ventura Lakes community, the snake was most likely a fully-grown adult.

Animal Control said that paramedics noticed the two fang marks near the girls ankle, and that her foot was beginning to swell and turn black. That’s when they knew a venomous snake bit her.

She was rushed to Nemours Children's Hospital to receive antivenin treatment.

Animal control officers were able to capture the snake safely and per protocol they sent the snake to the St. Cloud Serpentarium.
