A recount will be held later this week in the Volusia County Council at-large race.

In Tuesday's election, incumbent Joyce Cusack received 35 percent of the vote and will move on to a runoff in November.

Candidates Patricia Northey and Webster Barnaby received 33 percent and 32 percent of the vote respectively.

Because the difference between Northey and Barnaby is 153 votes, or .21 percent, Supervisor of Elections Ann McFall said a machine and manual recount will be ordered, in accordance with Florida Statue.

McFall said there are approximately 110 provisional and unscanned ballots that have not been counted.

The county's Canvassing Board will meet Thursday, Aug. 28 at 5 p.m. to officially call for a recount and go over procedures.

The recounts will then either be held Friday or Saturday.

The winner of the recount will then face Cusack in the November runoff.
