Festival of the Masters, the long-running arts festival that takes over Downtown Disney every year, will not happen this November.

Disney announced Wednesday that the 39th annual festival will be cancelled this year.

Disney said ongoing construction at Disney Springs will make it difficult to hold the festival, which has grown to include both the Marketplace and Westside areas of Downtown Disney.

People from all over the world apply to show and in some cases sell their work. No word on whether Festival of the Masters will return next year. Disney took the festival's page off the Walt Disney World website.

Construction at Downtown Disney right now includes the expansion of Buena Vista Drive and construction of a new parking garage. Constructions walls are also up around the former Pleasure Island area, where Disney is building new shopping and dining "experiences." Disney is also in the process of building a pedestrian bridge across the man-made lake.

Disney released new story details and pictures for Disney Springs this week.
