Osceola County Commissioners have adopted a contract to privatize a tourism promotion.

This will allow a new not-for-profit organization to market the area to international travelers.

Currently, Experience Kissimmee operates as a department of the county’s government.

With the new changes, the group will become private Oct. 1.

According to Experience Kissimmee, about seven million people stay overnight in Osceola each year, bring approximately $2 billion to the local economy.
