The man Florida state fire marshals want to question regarding nearly 30 acts of arson will remain in Central Florida after telling a Volusia County court judge he plans to fight extradition orders.

Steven Angle was arrested Saturday in Daytona Beach after police said he was acting erratically inside a beachside souvenir store and threatened to jump off a two-story indoor ledge. Police took Angle into custody and charged him disorderly conduct.

The state of Georgia wants to extradite Angle to face charges there of violating probation. Angle told a Volusia County judge Tuesday he will fight those extradition orders.

Authorities said Angle may be moved to Seminole County for a hearing on rape charges there.

There was no mention during Tuesday's hearing of any connection Angle may have to at least 27 fires set in Daytona Beach, Orlando, Ormond Beach and Sanford since April, but state fire marshals want to talk to Angle about the string of arson cases.

Angle has been named a person of interest, but he has not been charged with arson as of Tuesday.

Members of a new arson task force have tried to speak with Angle, but investigators said he has not confessed to any of the fires.

Angle's half-brother, Curtis Smith, was arrested for one fire in Sanford, but is a suspect in the other cases, officials said.

For now, Angle remains locked up without bond in the Volusia County Branch Jail.
