A Volusia County man found himself face-to-face with two intruders who tried to break into his home while he was there, and one of the suspects ended up being thrown into the pool.

According to investigators, 68-year-old Thomas Ostermann was at his DeLand home around 2:25 p.m. Friday, when two man — one armed with a crowbar — entered through the screened-in back door to the house.

Ostermann grabbed his gun and confronted the two men. One took off.

The other suspect struggled with Ostermann and ended up in the pool. The suspect quickly got out of the pool and ran away, though.

The Volusia County Sheriff's Office had K-9 units search the area and briefly tracked the men, but the track was lost.

A short time later, a nearby CVS Pharmacy spotted one of them on their security camera system. The men are described to be in their early 20s and about 6-feet tall. One was last seen wearing baggy shorts and no shirt.
