Horse World Riding Stables has voluntarily shut its doors after an investigation into the living conditions and health of horses, Osceola County Animal Control officials confirmed Friday.

Last week, two different complaints were filed — coupled with graphic images alleging the owners of Horse World were abusing horses on the property.

The investigation stems from accusations made by members of the community and former employees who have also created a stir online, alleging abuse and neglect of horses at these stables.

"Basic overall horse care was just not there, they are forced to stand in urine and feces all day long," said Felicia Taylor, a former employee. "Horses that are supposed to be kept in dry are standing in muck all day long."

Taylor said it only took her a few days before she said she noticed these horses weren't healthy, which forced her to quit. Taylor took pictures with her phone while working at Horse World.

About a half-dozen other former employees sent similar photos of wounds, split hooves and what they said are signs of malnutrition. Some pictures were graphic.

Animal Control did find some problems with the horses, but the problems weren't severe enough to warrant criminal charges.

Twenty-six horses will now either be adopted or sold, depending on their health.
