The Flagler County Humane Society is being overrun by cats.

They are stacking cats on top of cats at the Palm Coast shelter, a situation they do not want to be in much longer.

There are currently 174 cats in the shelter.

While summer is normally a busy time, staff members said they’ve had a larger-than-normal amount of people turning their own animals in because they can no longer care for them.

In hopes of making more room, any cat over the age of three is free to adopt for the remainder of the summer.

All other cats will cost $20, which is about $40 less than normal.

Even if you can’t keep a cat or two long-term, the shelter is always in need of foster homes.
