The Sumter County Sheriff's Office has made two arrests related to a recent call reporting a stolen vehicle.

According to the police report, the owner of the truck had been out of town for most of the summer, and was notified by a neighbor that his truck was missing from his Sumter County home.

The man immediately notified law enforcement, who arrived to investigate the scene.

A brief investigation led deputies to a witness who said a man he knows as Jeremy tried to sell him a silver Ford F-150 pickup truck. That witness told deputies that Jeremy's partner in crime lived near where the truck was stolen, and that truck was now parked near Jeremy's residence in his apartment complex.

27-year-old Jeremy Quigly was identified, and several deputies went to his residence in an attempt to locate the truck.

While those deputies searched for Quigly, deputies still on the scene were able to locate Devon Daily, who they say admitted to initially stealing the truck, and partying all night with Quigly. Daily said he even tried to repair the front door of the home after he broke in, and told deputies that Quigly drove him home around 8 a.m. the following morning and kept possession of the stolen truck.

Daily admitted to investigators that he has a problem with alcohol, often getting drunk and doing things he wouldn't normally do. Daily told deputies he wanted to seek help for the problem.

Daily was arrested, and charged with felony grand theft of a motor vehicle.

When deputies arrived at Quigly's apartment complex, they located the stolen truck in the rear of the complex. When those investigators made contact with Quigly, he told them Daily showed up in the truck and said it belonged to his mother who was out of town before offering to let him borrow it.

Quigly was arrested and charged with felony grand theft of a motor vehicle. Both men are being held on $2,000 bond.
