The Senate has passed a bill that will keep highway construction going, for now.

The vote gives congressional approval to pump $11 billion into the highway trust fund.

Thursday night's vote was cutting close to Friday's deadline when state officials said they'd have to freeze or cancel hundreds of construction projects.

This measure keeps the fund going until about next May.

The bill now heads to President Barack Obama's desk.
