A woman is dead and her boyfriend is in the hospital in what appears to be a case of carbon monoxide poisoning in Brevard County.

Police responded to a call in Palm Bay on the 100 block of Eldron Boulevard near Malabar Road.

Police said a family member went to the house to check on two people after they didn't show up to work.

Investigators believe the couple lost power to the house during a storm on Saturday and decided to start a generator in the garage. They allowed it to run for several hours until power was restored, but by then the home was filled with carbon monoxide.

Police said the death is not suspicious and appears to be accidental.

The man was rushed to the hospital in critical condition. His current condition is not known.
