Last Saturday night, law enforcement came out in full force on Randall Street in Orlando's Parramore neighborhood, where hundreds of people filled a street block, playing loud music and drinking alcohol.

Police were dressed in full riot gear responding to what they call an unlawful assembly.

“I mean we feel like it was uncalled for," said Coyia Sinclair. "Feel like they could’ve went about it a whole other way.”

Sinclair said he helps organize the annual party to remember those who have passed away. About a thousand people showed up.

“We knew it would be a big party, but we didn’t expect it to grow that big,” Sinclair.

What neighbors thought would be just another party escalated into so much more.

“When I seen that they had full riot gear, as if it was something more than what it really was,” Lee Garner said.

The police report said officers first used loud speakers to disperse the crowd. But then some people threw bottles at the officers and someone fired shots. That’s when officers put on their protective gear and deployed smoke canisters onto the street.

“I guess they felt like we wouldn’t moving fast enough for them,” Sinclair said.

The crowd eventually cleared that night. Officers were never able to locate the shooter.

Police would not go on camera to comment on the incident.  However, they tell me there were no injuries or arrests from that night. The organizer said he will hold the party again next year. Another neighbor said next time they will think about getting a permit.
