News 13 is showing you new video today of that tornado that tore through an air park in Edgewater Friday afternoon.

The National Weather Service  upgraded the tornado to an EF-1, after inspecting the scene Saturday.

This was one powerful tornado; metal siding was bent and torn, ripped away from the steel supports of an airplane hangar at Massey Ranch Air Park in Edgewater.

A flight student knew to start rolling as soon as he saw these clouds swirling above the airfield in Edgewater.

News 13 has obtained the exclusive video from Friday's twister.

It took the funnel cloud less than a minute to touch down; flashes of light as the tornado targets an airplane hangar.

The hanger was ripped into shreds before the twister was even finished.

The tornado took an airplane on a ride, flipping it.

It was a scary sight for flight students and their instructor.

"It came out of nowhere, it just came in just flipped the whole fleet of them of airplanes, just flipped," said Chief Flight Instructor Prem Kumar.

Three hangars were damaged, one was completely destroyed in the twister.

"Next thing you know I see the airplane hangar just spinning around in the sky, in pieces," said employee Travis Watson.

After inspecting the path of the twister and its intensity, the National Weather Service upgraded the tornado to a EF-1.

"We walked around and taken a look at the damage, and taking a look at the sheet medal, and bolt system, and the infrastructure and frame and determined that the wind speeds were about 100 to 105 miles an hour and so that puts it squarely in the EF1 rage," said David Sharp, National Weather Service.

The National Weather Service says it's pretty rare to an EF1 tornado touch down during the summertime here, and confirmed Saturday that the tornado touched down at 4:24 p.m. at Massey Ranch Airport, in Volusia County.

Clean up will take days, weeks, maybe even months.
