No longer is this your last weekend to catch Wanzie’s "Ladies of Eola Heights" at The Abbey.

Following rave reviews and enthusiastic audiences, the theater has added two additional performances on Thursday, July 31 at 8 p.m. and Saturday, August 2 at 8 p.m.

"You've gotta come and see this," said Peg O'Keef, who plays "Opal." "It's not just drama. It's not just comedy. There's a true spectacle on this stage."

The play tells the story of three Southern ladies who reunite at their family home to plan their daddy’s funeral. Old grudges, family secrets, and deep wounds surface amid the mayhem which ensues when the sisters discover their only brother, Jackson, hasn’t spoken a word in over two years and believes that he is June Cleaver.

Sam Singhaus reprises that role as Jackson/June. The original Ladies of Eola Heights about a decade ago was performed by men in drag. The current production is the first time that women play the role of the three leads.

"[Having women] definitely deepened th drama of the play," said the Tony Award-winning artistic director, Kenny Howard. "There's a lot of serious issues, but in true Wanzie-form, it's done with such love and humor."

"They will feel a lot," Singhaus told me, referring to the audiences. "You will feel happy and sad and you're going to want to call your relatives."

"This just truly encourages you to reach out and to love those you might think you want to let go, but in the end, is a very rewarding relationship," Howard added.

If you've lived in Orlando long enough, the local references may hit home, like Mamma B.'s Giant Subs and The Beacham, to IHOP.

"It's specific to the IHOP on Summerlin," said a wildly-accented Beth Marshall ("Pearl"). "Not just any ol' IHOP. It's that one on Summerlin."

"Well, you can get a  Rooty Tooty Fresh 'N Fruity down there," born-again-Christian "Opal" chimed in. "I can vouch for that myself, thank you, Jesus."

Ladies of Eola Heights runs through August 2.
