A precautionary boil water notice has been issued for five homes between 1702 N. Wickham Road and 1716 N. Wickham Road in Brevard County, officials said.

Water has been shut off to those homes while a repair is made to a water valve in the area.

As a precaution, residents are advised that all water used for drinking, cooking, making ice, brushing teeth or washing clothes be boiled. A rolling boil of one minute is sufficient. As an alternative, use bottled water.

The precautionary boil water notice is expected to remain in effect until Friday, July 25.

It will be lifted when the required bacteriological survey shows the water is safe to drink. Residents will be provided with a notification at that time.
