Two Daytona Beach Police Department officers and a prisoner were injured early Wednesday morning after a man plowed his vehicle into one of the patrol cars in Volusia County, police said.

The police officers were conducting a traffic stop around 1:30 a.m., on the 400 block of South Atlantic Avenue. While the officers were investigating the incident, Clinton Shockley, 25, plowed his 2007 red Toyota into one of the cruisers.

Both officers were struck by debris but managed to escape any serious injury, police said. A prisoner who was in the rear of the patrol car was also treated for injuries. All three were taken to Halifax Health Medical Center.

Shockley was arrested on several charges, including DUI. He refused to take a breath test and was uninjured in the crash, police said.

He has since bonded out of jail.
