A Brevard County Sheriff's Office corrections officer was arrested July 21 after police said he blocked his wife in the bathroom following an argument over divorce, police said.

Officers with the Cocoa Police Department responded to Ryon Rabello's home around 12:30 a.m. Monday, for a well-being check of Rabello's wife. The woman sent a friend several text messages stating that her husband "was going to be on the news," according to a police report.

When police knocked on the door, they reported that they could hear a weapon being "locked and loaded."

Rabello answered the door and told police that his wife wasn't at the home.

Police then asked about weapons inside the home, and Rabello said there was an AK-47 in the kitchen. Police found the assault rifle fully loaded leaning against the wall in the kitchen, as well as several other weapons and ammunition near an open gun safe in the master bedroom of the home, the report states.

In total, police found 12 firearms and two knives in the home.

Rabello confirmed to police that he was involved in a verbal argument with his wife. He stated he had been drinking alcohol prior to the argument.

Police then went to a nearby Publix to speak to Rabello's wife. She said the couple got into an argument earlier in the day when she told Rabello she wanted a divorce.

The woman told her husband that she said she was going to "leave for a while" and went into the bathroom to change, the report states. That's when Rabello followed her into the bathroom and wouldn't let her leave by "physically blocking the door with his body."

The woman was able to get out of the bathroom several minutes later and grabbed car keys to leave the home. She then told police that's when Rabello grabbed a large knife and went out to the driveway.

According to the police report, Rabello then told his wife that he'd be "making the news." The woman went back into the home and asked Rabello to leave, but he wouldn't. The woman then told police that Rabello began pulling out several firearms and loading them.

Rabello was arrested on false imprisonment and domestic violence charges. He has been placed on unpaid administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.
