The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a crash in Sumter County that killed a 19-year-old University of Florida student.

Officials with FHP say Emily Aultman, 19, was driving a 2000 Ford Explorer southbound on the Florida Turnpike in Wildwood with four passengers when she lost control of the vehicle.

The SUV flipped, and came to a stop upside-down, blocking the southbound lanes of the turnpike.

A semitrailer approached the scene and was unable to avoid the overturned vehicle, and struck the driver's side.

Troopers say two of the five occupants were able to crawl out of the SUV before it was it was struck by the semitrailer.

Paramedics pronounced Aultman dead at the scene of the crash. Two male passengers were transported with serious injuries.

FHP officials say the five occupants of the SUV were all students, or recent graduates of the University of Florida. Officials say there were no signs or indications of alcohol or contraband contributing to the crash, and that all of the occupants were wearing their seat belts.

No injuries were reported for either occupant of the semi.
