After seeing a few abnormally dry days here in Central Florida, the storms returned in full force for our Sunday afternoon. Scattered thunderstorms started around 2 p.m., and some of the storms became strong with gusty wind and frequent lightning. Now that the moisture is back, rain chances will remain high for the start of the work week.

Now that the activity from Sunday afternoon has quieted down, the rest of the night will consist of mostly cloudy skies and muggy conditions. Overnight lows will fall to a warm middle 70s as we head toward daybreak.

Some of the clouds will clear early on Monday, allowing for partly sunny skies to start the day. Around lunchtime, storms will start to develop and continue through the afternoon and into the evening. There’s a 60 percent chance inland and a 50 percent chance along the coast. Before the storms move in, temperatures will be able to climb to around 90 degrees. The humidity will make things feel sticky and more like it’s 100 degrees.

Storms will be likely through Wednesday before dropping back a bit for the end of the week. Each day, however, will continue to hold a chance for storms with highs in the low 90s.

The tropics have been quiet since Arthur moved up the east coast, but there’s an area of low pressure now in the Atlantic that needs to be monitored in the next few days. This low is located between the west coast of Africa and the Leeward Islands. There is a small chance that this low will develop in the next few days. As this low tracks west, it will encounter unfavorable conditions and will likely weaken.

Tune in for your Tropical Updates at :21 & :51 mintues past each hour.
