A 21-year-old woman was killed early Sunday morning in a hit-and-run crash along Colonial Drive in Orange County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

James Robert Alpaugh, 49, of Titusville, was traveling eastbound in the left travel lane on Colonial Drive near Lake Pickett Road around 1:33 a.m. in a Toyota pickup truck.

A second vehicle, described as a red minivan, was also traveling eastbound on Colonial Drive in the left turn lane.

Nicole Marie Brennan, of Orlando, had just stepped from her vehicle after it had been involved in a two-car crash, the report states. She was standing on the solid white line dividing the left turn lane and the left travel lane on eastbound Colonial Drive.

The front left of Alpaugh's pickup truck struck Brennan. The second vehicle struck and drug Brennan into the intersection of Colonial rive and Lake Pickett Road after the initial collision with Alpaugh's pickup truck.

Both Alpaugh and the red minivan left the scene of the crash without providing any information, troopers said.

Around 5 a.m., Alpaugh returned to the scene with his pickup truck. Troopers arrested Alpaugh and charged him with leaving the scene of a fatal crash. The Florida Highway Patrol is still searching for the red minivan.

Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call CrimeLine at 800-423-TIPS (8477) or the Florida Highway Patrol at 407-737-2213.
