Orange County deputies are waiting for the medical examiner’s report to find out how a 20-year-old man died.

The body of 20-year-old Cameron Sparrow was found early Sunday along Kilgore Road, just off Apopka Vineland Road.

As police investigated, neighbors were in shock.

“It’s scary; it’s really scary,” said Janine Lee, Bay Lakes at Granada resident.

Like many people who live in the Bay Lakes at Granada neighborhood, Lee is shocked and scared that Sparrow’s body was found practically in her backyard.

“It’s a really quite neighborhood, a great neighborhood for kids. So for something like this to happen here it’s really shocking,” said Lee.

Police recieved a call early that morning when a passerby noticed something suspicious in the grass. Investigators said it didn't take long for that person to realize it was a body.

Investigators said there wasn't any obvious signs of trauma to the body, but detectives have little to go with so far and are still trying to find out what happened.

They do believe Sparrow's body was brought here and the body was dumped.

Investigators are now treating this like a homicide.

Detectives aren’t sure how long this man’s body was lying in the woods, but they said he wasn’t well hidden.

But residents said the road is dark and empty at night.

“It’s a desolate strip of road right here outside of our immediate neighborhood,” said resident Rob Foley.

“This road is really dark," Lee said. "So it doesn’t surprise me because it might be a good place to dump a body but it’s still shocking.”

Now residents are just wondering how something like this could happen so close to home.

“I'm just shocked that someone was found dead. Like right over there,” said resident Aidan Foley.

Officials at the scene confirmed the Sparrow's death is suspicious. The body was removed from the area around 12:30 p.m.
