One person is dead and five others are injured after a truck hit several vehicles in Deltona and almost crashed into a house.

It happened on Providence Boulevard, just north of Saxon Boulevard in Deltona.

Deputies have identified the person who died as 65-year-old Virginia May. She was inside a van when the driver of the truck struck it. Several of the injured had to be airlifted from the crash site.

Deputies said the driver of the truck first hit a bicycle on Tivoli Drive. That's where the bike's owner was waiting for a bus. He was able to get out of the way. The truck then crashed into three other vehicles and a fence, barely missing the home. One neighbor said she was able to help the driver of the truck who was dazed and confused.

"It seemed like he just woke up, like he dozed off as he was driving and then crashed into the house," said neighbor Maiya Velazquez. "I kept asking if he was okay and he said he was all right but he wasn't really talking a lot."

Deputies said the driver has not been charged because they are still gathering information.
