The city is asking the community to help gather school supplies for kids who need it most.

The City of Sanford has two drop off locations for school supplies at City Hall. One is at the Utility Dept., while the other is at Grounds Operations Division. School supplies can be dropped off Monday through Thursday between 7:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.

Forty-seven percent of Seminole County Public Schools students are eligible for free and reduced meals, and sometimes they don't have the supplies necessary to do well in class.

Supplies needed includes:

  • 24 pack crayons
  • Pencil packs
  • Loose leaf paper
  • 12 pack color pencils
  • Spiral notebooks
  • Pink block erasers
  • Pocket folders
  • Glue Sticks
  • Rulers
  • 8/10 pack color markers
  • Children’s scissors
  • Composition notebooks

The city of Lake County is also holding a back to school supply drive. More information can be found on the Lake Mary website.
