Wednesday marks the 45th anniversary of the Apollo 11 mission launch, arguably the start of the most significant event in space history.

What if Twitter was around on July 16th, 1969 -- the day three Americans launched into space headed for the moon?

NASA is live-tweeting today as if the social media website were up and running the day Armstrong, Aldrin and Collins lifted off on the Apollo 11 mission.

The media team based at the Kennedy Space Center will be posting tweets and pictures before, during and after launch. It's giving us an inside look at what would become the first time man stepped foot on the moon.
