Brevard County investigators are still looking into a possible child abduction, but so far, leads have run dry and there are no missing children reports.

A 12-year-old boy claims he saw a vehicle pull up alongside a child in this area of Clubhouse Drive and Bennington Place, a man got out, scooped up a child and forced him into the backseat.

Investigators are trying to determine if this was an abduction, or perhaps, a misunderstanding.

BCSO investigators say they got the call around 7 p.m. Wednesday night in regards to the child reported seeing a white, four-door vehicle pull up next to a young boy, possibly around 7 years old.

A man got out, grabbed the boy around the waist and forced him into the backseat.

"He thought it was suspicious because the kid did scream something, and it looked like he fought a little bit, that they went down a little side road and pulled back out and came out to the main entrance to Murrell Road," says Lt. Tod Goodyear with the Brevard County Sheriff's Office.

The 12 year old described the boy as having sandy, brown hair and was wearing a green shirt and blue shorts.

Investigators combed the area within minutes of getting the call.

No evidence of an abduction was found.

"We're hoping this 12 year old, being a good citizen, reported something he thought was suspicious, and that it's an innocent or family matter of some sort," says Lt. Goodyear.

Nicole Trout babysits her three year old cousin often, as they ride around in a golf cart in this quiet Viera neighborhood.

She heard about the report of the seven year old child being abducted, and says the 12-year-old boy who witnessed it did the right thing.

"I'm glad he told his parents. Everyone must watch out what goes on with their children." Trout said.

Investigators have checked with area schools and they have no reports of suspicious absences today, and there have been no missing persons reports filed with BCSO.
