An important clue has been found in the search for the man who tried to kidnap a 12-year-old girl in Orange County.

Investigators said the victim obtained some DNA of her alleged attacker, which is now being analyzed.

The incident happened around 6 p.m. Tuesday on North Powers and Ruthie drives.

Investigators said because the girl fought back, she scared away her alleged attacker.

“Each case is so different because we don’t want to say always struggle or don’t struggle,” said Jane Watrel, an Orange County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman. “In this case, her instincts were very good to struggle. She managed to shout, to yell, get away and then call us. So, hat’s off. It worked for her.”

The attacker was described as a dark-skinned man in his mid-30s. The 6 feet 4 inch man had a slim build, a pointed goatee and tattoos on his right arm.
