Brevard County residents have the chance to safely dispose of expired or unused prescription medications this Saturday.

Melbourne police are partnering with the Drug Enforcement Administration for a take back day, no questions asked.

The event will be Saturday, April 26 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at their department building at 650 Apollo Blvd.

Police said they don't want them to get into the wrong hands. Also it keeps the medicines from ending up in waste and water supplies.

The following drugs, however, will not be accepted:

  • Illicit drugs like marijuana or meth
  • Any intravenous solutions
  • Injectable medications
  • Syringes
