A convicted killer, who murdered a husband and wife in Lake County more than two decades ago, is scheduled to be put to death today.

Robert Hendrix murdered his cousin, Elmer Scott, and Scott's wife Michelle on Aug. 27, 1990.

Hendrix and Scott were arrested before the murder for breaking into a house.

Scott accepted a plea deal that would keep him out of prison if he testified against Hendrix.

Before the case went to court, Hendrix shot and stabbed Scott and his wife to death.

He is scheduled to be executed by lethal injection at 6 p.m.
