A 16-year-old boy was arrested and charged with aggravated battery, aggravated assault and attempted murder on Monday after he repeatedly stabbed a 14-year-old boy over a Facebook post, deputies said.

Osceola County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to the Briarcliff Drive, in Poinciana, around 6:42 p.m. Monday, according to a report.

When deputies arrived, they saw two teenagers fighting. Once the two teens were separated, the deputies spoke with witnesses who said the 14-year-old victim was walking home with friends when he was confronted by a 16-year-old regarding a post on Facebook.

The two became involved in a physical altercation, deputies said, and the 16-year-old pulled out a knife and began stabbing the other teen "multiple times."

The 14-year-old was transported to Osceola Regional Medical Center, and the suspect was taken to Poinciana Hospital.

At the hospital, the 16-year-old made statements to his father that, earlier in the day, the 14-year-old victim told students at school that he wanted to fight with the 16-year-old over comments the 16-year-old made on Facebook about the 14-year-old.

The 16-year-old said he tried to ignore the other teen during school, but that he was confronted while walking home, deputies said.

Based on witness statements, evidence and extent of the 14-year-old's injuries, the 16-year-old was arrested and charged with seven counts of aggravated battery, one count of aggravated assault with a weapon and one count of attempted murder.

The 16-year-old was taken to the Orange County Juvenile Detention Center.

No names were reported, per News 13's Crime Guidelines.
