A registered felon remains behind bars after assaulting an Osceola County Sheriff's deputy.

It happened around 1:30 a.m. Saturday, April 19 at Roscoe's Bar, located at 2344 N. Orange Blossom Trail.

Deputies were called out in reference to a trespassing.

Employees told deputies they asked 44-year-old Melvin Manning, who was armed with a knife, to leave but he refused.

Several deputies attempted to restrain Manning, who they said aggressively fought against them.

Manning struck a deputy, who sustained minor injuries.

He was arrested and charged with aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, battery on a law enforcement officer, resisting without violence and trespassing.

Manning, who has an extensive violent criminal history, was booked into the Osceola County Jail without bond.
