A big bird and her babies are causing quite the stir in Brevard County -- and they're literally stopping traffic.

For the past several weeks, people have been pulling over on Murrell Road to watch a mother swan nesting on a large nest in the middle of a small pond.

Many people have stopped by to see. In fact, so many cars have parked on the side of the road that the grass is now flat and brown.

People young and old have snapped pictures with their cameras or phones.

Tina Pontious has stopped by to see the swan.

"It's awesome," Pontious said. "I don't think I've seen a swan up close like that before."

Just this week, six baby swans -- called flappers -- hatched.
