A strong line of storms swept across Central Florida on Friday, prompting several Severe Thunderstorm Watches and Warnings during the afternoon.

With the cold front transitioning from west to east across the Peninsula overnight, the threat of showers and storms -- some possibly strong -- stays in the forecast through just before sunrise Saturday. With saturated air mass in place over the region, overnight low temperatures will not fall much, and most of Central Florida will see morning lows in the middle to upper 60s and lower 70s.

Forecast: A look ahead

As the low slowly moves away from the east coast on Saturday, west winds will continue to feed enough moisture into the area to produce scattered showers during the first half of the day. Conditions should begin to clear in the afternoon, with partly cloudy skies and high temperatures in the middle to upper 70s expected by the late day hours.

As skies clear overnight Saturday and into Sunday, temperatures will drop off into the middle to upper 50s for early Easter morning. We will wrap up the holiday weekend with partly sunny skies and highs in the middle to upper 70s and lower 80s on Sunday afternoon.

The following workweek will bring a fairly seasonable weather pattern to the area, with partly cloudy skies and highs mainly in the middle 80s.

Severe Thunderstorm Warning issued for Polk County until 2 p.m.
