Volusia County parents and teachers will be calling for the state to reconsider implementing common core education testing, otherwise known as high-stakes testing.

They want the state to hold off on starting the tests next year to give everyone an opportunity to find out more about the process.

The brand new test is expected to be field-tested in the fall using students from Utah, and then students here in Florida will start taking the test next spring.

A news conference is planned for 4:15 p.m.
