Authorities arrested a man after his car reached speeds in excess of 130 mph.

Travis Weaver, 31, of Wildwood, will face one count of fleeing or attempting to elude a law enforcement officer; one count of driving while license suspended, revoked, canceled, or disqualified; and one count of driving under the
influence.

Weaver was booked into the Marion County Jail at 5:10 a.m., Thursday, April 17, 2014.

The incident started when a deputy saw Weaver driving without headlights at 2:10 in the morning. A traffic stop was conducted; but, Weaver sped off and reached speeds over 130 mph.

“The driver was driving recklessly and ran several red lights in an attempt to elude me,” the deputy wrote in the arrest affidavit.

The report continues that Weaver “lost control of the vehicle, ran over several signs in the median and spun into a ditch.”

Still, Weaver was able to speed off.

The deputy tried several times to use a precision immobilization technique (PIT maneuver) and was finally able to stop the vehicle.

Weaver would not get out of the vehicle, so the deputy was forced to break a window and remove him. Weaver was then arrested.
