If you live in Palm Bay you can help the police department keep the streets safer as part of the citizen patrol.

The Palm Bay Police Department is looking for applicants for its Volunteer Citizens on Patrol, or VCOP, program.

Those chosen will help with traffic control, house checks, parking enforcement and other duties to lend a hand to road officers.

Volunteers can also learn other work like helping at crime scenes and community relations.

The VCOP program began nearly 20 years ago and 60 members.
