Lake County Sheriff's deputies have named a suspect in the murder of a man.

Eighteen-year-old Travis Miller is wanted in connection with the early Saturday morning murder of 31-year-old Justin Russell.

Investigators said Miller is known to spend time in both Clermont and Groveland.

Russell’s sister, Carlotta Moton, said her brother was shot and killed on the 15000 block of Stuckey Loop around 2:30 a.m. He tried to break up an argument at a party about someone wearing a shirt supporting the search for Xavier Tarrand, who disappeared two weeks ago.

Some witnesses are saying it was mistaken identity.

At this time, deputies said there's no evidence to suggest the shooting was in retaliation to Tarrand's case.

“They let my brother die on the side of the road,” Moton said. “My brother died right here. It was nobody here to help him. There were two girls here that work at the hospital that kept him stable and put pressure on him. But, it was nothing nobody could do.”

Russell, a registered sex offender, was released from prison in November after serving time for cocaine possession and simple battery.
