Quiet weather will continue through the short term with sunny and seasonable weather in store for the remainder of the work week. The days will begin cool and with areas of fog, but afternoon highs will run in line with the average for this time in December, in the low 70s. High pressure will dominate and gradually slide east toward the Eastern Seaboard. As that happens, our winds will slowly turn from northwest today to southerly over the weekend. This is when a more noticeable warm up will occur.

The weekend outlook holds warmer temperatures in the mid- to upper 70s and lows in the low to mid-50s. Saturday will feature partly sunny skies but Sunday will offer increasing clouds and a chance for isolated afternoon showers.

It’s the extended forecast that holds a greater chance for unsettled weather starting late Sunday, lasting through midweek. A broad area of low pressure developing over the south central United States will take aim for the Gulf Coast by dragging a cold front producing numerous showers along and ahead of it. This set up will yield to soggy weather for the early part of next week until the cold front passes on Wednesday. Following this system, clearing will take shape Christmas Eve with unseasonable cool air returning in time for Christmas Day. There is plenty of time to fine tune this forecast as it is still quite a ways away but stay with News 13 for updates as the holiday nears.
