Pet owners in Flagler County can rest a little easier in case a disaster hits that county. Flagler County emergency managers now have you covered.

The county and the ASPCA have teamed up to staff a pet-friendly shelter in the county should the need arise.

The Flagler County School Board is also part of the partnership to provide a facility to house that shelter.

Only household pets -- dogs, cats, birds and the like will be accepted. Sorry, no snakes, spiders, fish or farm animals.

But the county is trying to form an evacuation plan for those farm animals if that type of evacuation is needed.

Flagler joins Clay and Osceola Counties to adopt this ASPCA program.
