Stephen Jones' mother is still grieving — and still searching for answers — three years after her son was shot and killed in front of his Casselberry home.

"It breaks my heart that somebody out there knows something and they're not coming forward," said Joann Jones, Stephen Jones' mother.

Investigators with the Casselberry Police Department said leads have run dry on the homicide investigation.

Stephen Jones was shot one time just after 9 p.m. Nov. 7, 2011, in front of his home on Carlisle Drive. He later died.

"And I never had the chance to say goodbye," Joann Jones said.

Investigators said a man knocked on Jones' door just before the shooting asking for him by name. The two men knew each other, investigators said.

Neighbors said they saw a tan or silver car leave the scene. Witnesses haven't cooperated, though, and so the case has stalled.

"The difficult part is it's almost three years later, that's why we're really trying to focus on generating the new information," said Sgt. Chris Pamatian, of the Casselberry Police Department.

Joann Jones said her Christmas wish is for someone to come forward and "help us get closure."

Investigators said the slightest bit of information can sometimes crack open a case.

"It's never going to go away, but if I had some closure, that would help ease some of the pain that not only myself, but my two daughters — and his son — they need this," Joann Jones said. "We all need this."

Crimeline is offering a $5,000 reward for any information in the case that leads to an arrest and conviction.
