The Florida Highway Patrol has 53 new troopers in its ranks following their graduation Wednesday from FHP’s Training Academy.

The graduates join the more than 1,800 troopers who patrol the state’s roads each day to provide protection and assistance to Florida residents and visitors.;

“Today, we are excited to welcome fifty-three new troopers to the Florida Highway Patrol family,” said Colonel David H. Brierton, Director of the Florida Highway Patrol.  “This new generation of troopers will help carry on the rich history and traditions that exist within the FHP and will help ensure that our dedication to public safety stays strong as we continue into the future.”

Members of the 129th Basic Recruit Class went through twenty-five weeks of intense physical training and academic study covering topics such as human relations, law, firearms, defensive tactics, vehicle operations and first aid.
