Port Canaveral has a big, new visitor that’s making history. On Friday the new Quantum of the Seas arrived on its first Brevard County port of call stop.

It’s the largest ship to ever visit Port Canaveral.

The port even had to widen and deepen the channel, just to make sure Quantum could fit.

It’s the third largest cruise ship in the world only behind its Royal Caribbean sister ships Oasis and Allure.

The Quantum is on its inaugural sailing, having left New Jersey on its way to the Bahamas.

On Friday crew members tested out the rescue boats in Port Canaveral’s harbor.

The ship can hold 4,900 passengers.
