The rain washed-out Thanksgiving grocery shopping plans for many people, but as the sun came out, so did shoppers.

With less than 24 hours before the big meal, one Lake County grocery store was so busy, some people actually had to wait just for a shopping cart.

“I had every intention yesterday morning of going shopping and it just rained all morning and I was just like forget it,” said Diana Miller.

So Diana Miller was with the crowds at grocery stores Wednesday getting her groceries loaded in a parking lot with very few spots left.

Store management says the shelves are stocked, the one thing you might have trouble finding is a shopping cart.

“I had to wait 20 minutes for a shopping cart It’s like Black Friday. It’s worse, but I needed the food,” said Miller.

Once they got the carts most customers filled them with all the holiday trimmings.

“We have our 10 to 12 pound roasted turkey, cranberry orange relish, homemade mash potatoes marshmallows and gravy,” said Hope Hanek.

But for Patty New, the secret recipe for a perfect Thanksgiving meal isn’t anything she could buy at the store.

“The key is to have family and love and then to have turkey and dressing and all that other stuff,” said New.
