A fire at a home in Volusia County cost an estimated $15,000–$20,000 in damages Friday, New Smyrna Beach firefighters estimated.

No one was inside when the fire started sometime after 6:30 a.m. at what firefighters said appeared to be an unoccupied vacation home on St. Andrews Circle, in the Sugar Mill area off Pioneer Trail, east of I-95 and north of Sugar Mill Drive and State Road 44.

Fire officials said someone walking a dog nearby reported the fire after noticing smoke coming from the back of the house.

Investigators said the fire broke out in the back porch and was spreading to the home's "Florida room" area.

Crews put out the fire and contained it to the back of the home. No one was injured, fire officials said.
