The U.S. Department of Homeland Security says it has investigated 79 hacking attempts so far this year.
But that number is actually down from 2013, when there were a reported 145 incidents.
Officials say energy companies have cybersecurity teams in place to help keep hackers out.
Hackers have been able to break in but have not been able to shut down any portion of the power grid, according to officials.
