A 21-year-old man was Baker Acted after police say he cut two maintenance men with a knife.

The incident happened around 10:45 a.m. at the Ashton Point Apartments, 6295 S. Williamson Blvd.

Police said the two maintenance employees – 60-year-old Kenneth Frueh and 66-year-old Roberto Rodriguez – were invited inside Vu Minh Nguyen’s apartment to fix a malfunctioning refrigerator.

As they walked into the kitchen and began to ask Nguyen about the issue, the men said he started yelling at them to exit the apartment.

Nguyen then threatened the men with a knife and cut both of them. One sustained a cut on the face, while the other was injured on the arm.

Police tried for more than two hours to contact Nguyen.

The department’s Emergency Response Team then entered the apartment, finding Nguyen in a rear bedroom. He was taken into custody without incident.

Frueh and Rodriguez were transported to Halifax Medical Center and treated for non-life threatening injuries.

The incident remains under investigation.
